What we collect, what we don't.

What we collect

If you create an account, we store your username, email (if you provide one), and password hash. If you share a story we store the story text and the metadata you choose to include (branch, years served, anonymous flag).

If you accept analytics consent via the banner, we store a self-hosted server-side event log of which pages you visited. No third-party trackers run before you accept. We never share this data with anyone.

What we don't collect

• We do not run Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any third-party fingerprinting tracker.
• We do not store your service number, DD-214, or anything from a federal database.
• We do not sell any data to anyone, ever.

Cookies

We use one essential session cookie for sign-in, one CSRF cookie for form security, and one consent cookie that records whether you accepted or declined analytics. The consent cookie is set only when you click a button.

Ad serving

If Google AdSense is enabled on this site, ads serve in non-personalized mode until you accept the consent banner; after accepting, ads may be personalized using cookies set by Google. We use Google Consent Mode v2 to signal your choice to Google. See Google's ad policies for details.
