Veterans Justice Outreach (VJO) is a VA program that places specialists at courts, jails, and police departments to identify justice-involved veterans and connect them to VA mental health, substance use disorder treatment, housing, and benefits. VJO specialists coordinate with Veterans Treatment Courts — specialized court dockets that combine treatment with judicial oversight as an alternative to incarceration. Available in every state.
